2026 - President William Ruto has urged Kenyans to remain calm as the
country heads toward the 2027 elections.
Speaking during the National Prayer Breakfast on Thursday,
May 28th, whose theme was reconciliation, Ruto reassured the public
that the polls will be peaceful, free and fair.
“We are going to have elections, and they will be
peaceful.”
“There will be no violence, and they will be free and
fair, because what God has decided, no man can change.”
“So, relax. The people are in a panic. If God has decided
that Ruto will get a second time, he will.”
“If he decides otherwise, that is what will happen, and
we will move on as a country,” the President said.
Ruto emphasized that any attempts to divide Kenyans ahead of
the elections will fail, adding that his Government remains focused on
delivering its mandate.
His remarks came amid growing concerns about alleged
election rigging, following claims by some Government‑allied leaders that they
will stop at nothing to secure his re‑election.
The President has also faced criticism after provocative
remarks by certain UDA leaders were termed as tribal profiling against
communities in the Mount Kenya region.
