Friday, March 6, 2026 - Former Nairobi Governor, Mike Sonko, has hit back at controversial lawyer, Miguna Miguna, after receiving a libel and demand notice accusing him of issuing defamatory remarks on social media.
In a strongly worded response, Sonko said Miguna has made a
habit of insulting Kenyans and attacking individuals, particularly women, while
acting as if he is superior to others because of his command of English.
Sonko revealed that he received the libel notice through
WhatsApp and was shocked by Miguna’s demand for Ksh 5 million in damages, which was
outlined on page three of the document.
“My friend, I do not care how many degrees you have in law
or which country you practice in. Whether you are a lawyer in Canada or
elsewhere makes no difference to me,” Sonko stated.
The former Governor further said that life experiences had
shaped him, referencing the time he spent in institutions such as Kamiti Maximum Prison and Shimo La Tewa
Prison.
Sonko maintained that he is ready to face Miguna in court
and defend himself against the allegations.
“So let’s meet in court and allow the truth to come out. In the meantime, I am ready to engage competent legal counsel, even ten lawyers if necessary, because I am fully prepared to defend myself and expose the truth. Let the law and facts speak for themselves,” he said.
