Thursday, March 5, 2026 - Concerns have been raised
on social media following the circulation of a viral video showing a group of
youths smoking bhang during President William Ruto’s tour of Dagoretti.
In the clip widely shared online, the youths are seen openly
smoking and passing around a joint in the presence of uniformed police
officers, including General Service Unit (GSU) personnel assigned to provide
security during the President’s roadside rallies.
Bhang remains illegal in Kenya, and the footage has sparked
outrage among Kenyans who questioned why no action appeared to be taken against
the individuals involved.
In the video>>>, one of the youths is heard saying,
“Tunaivuta hadharani,” as he smokes and hands over the joint to a
colleague.
