Thursday, February
05, 2026 - Trans Nzoia Governor, George Natembeya, has castigated President
William Ruto for convening a United Democratic Alliance (UDA) meeting at State
House, accusing him of politicizing the seat of executive power.
Natembeya argued that the move undermines the neutrality of
the Presidency and sets a dangerous precedent for Kenya’s democratic
institutions.
Speaking after the gathering of UDA aspirants, Natembeya
declared: “Even
Moi didn’t host KANU meetings at State House.”
“When Kibaki was in power, he never held PNU meetings there.”
“When Uhuru was in power, he never held Jubilee meetings at State
House.”
The outspoken Governor insisted that State House should
remain a symbol of national unity, not a partisan venue for election
strategizing.
The Governor accused Ruto of eroding the dignity of the Presidency
by blurring the line between State and party interests.
“State House is supposed to be a symbol of national unity, not a
venue for partisan strategizing,” he said, warning that such
actions risk alienating citizens who expect the presidency to serve all Kenyans
equally.
President Ruto
met more than 12,000 UDA aspirants at State House on Wednesday, February 4th,
2026.
