05, 2026 - Mumias East MP, Peter Salasya, has once again stirred online
chatter after mocking United Democratic Alliance (UDA) aspirants who flocked to
State House on Wednesday, February 4th, 2026, for a meeting with
President William Ruto.
According to Salasya, many of the hopefuls arrived with high
expectations of financial handouts, only to leave empty-handed.
Taking to his X account, the outspoken lawmaker laughed off
their disappointment.
“Wenye walienda na expectations za pesa breaking news
wote walipangwa line kama gunia za makaa,” he wrote, loosely translating
to: “All who went with expectations of money were forced to line up like bags
of charcoal.”
According to Salasya, all the aspirants including current
MPs and Governors were each given just Ksh 5,000.
Salasya went further, warning that the aspirants’ unmet
expectations could backfire at the grassroots.
He claimed supporters will assume each aspirant received
millions and will line up at their homes demanding a share.
“Alafu ground itasikia ulipewa 10M will be lining at his
home,” he added.
The State House meeting brought together more than 12,000
aspirants, where President Ruto outlined his administration’s achievements and
vision.
He urged attendees to act as party ambassadors and spread
UDA’s message ahead of the 2027 General Elections.
The high-profile gathering also attracted notable figures, including former Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria and Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, both seen as key players in shaping UDA’s future.
