Thursday, January 08, 2025 - The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has ordered that the Tahmeed Coach Limited bus driver, who was filmed driving dangerously along the Nairobi-Mombasa Highway, undergoes immediate retesting.
In a statement issued on Thursday, January 8th,
NTSA confirmed it had contacted Tahmeed’s management and scheduled the driver
for evaluation at its driver test unit.
“Update: We contacted the Sacco, and the driver will undergo
a retest today,” the authority announced.
NTSA further urged members of the public to remain vigilant
and report incidents of reckless driving.
The authority advised Kenyans to provide details such as the
vehicle’s registration number, location, date and time to ensure swift
enforcement action.
“We assure you that the necessary action will be taken
promptly,” NTSA added.
The directive follows widespread outrage after a viral video
showed the Tahmeed bus engaging in a risky overtaking race with a truck,
despite another bus having broken down on the highway.
Dear @ntsa_kenya, was this Tahmeed bus driver and the lorry driver arrested? And the passengers in this bus were okay with this? 🧐 pic.twitter.com/CYX1lvCsZe
