Tuesday, January 27, 2026 - A young Kenyan from the North Eastern region has shared a video showing the office of the Mandera West Member of Parliament, Adan Haji Yusuf, which is located directly opposite a dumping site and appears abandoned.
In the video circulating on social media, the Gen Z activist
questions the condition and utility of the office, claiming that it shows
little to no activity and reflects the MP’s absence from the constituency.
Online users have since echoed the claims, with some
alleging that the legislator rarely visits Mandera West.
The video comes days after former Deputy President Rigathi
Gachagua ignited national debate after accusing some leaders from the
North Eastern region of abandoning their constituents.
Gachagua alleged that several leaders from the region prefer
operating from luxury hotels in Nairobi, while funds meant for grassroots
development are instead diverted into private investments such as apartment
blocks in the capital.
His remarks drew both sharp criticism and support across the
political divide.
Many social media users now argue that the exposed state of
the Mandera West MP’s office appears to reinforce Gachagua’s claims, with some
declaring that “Gachagua was right”.
