Vocal ODM Governor urges President RUTO to seek second term on ODM ticket - "Come 2027 will ask Questions"

Monday, December 15, 2025 - ODM Deputy Party Leader and Kisii Governor, Simba Arati, has stirred political debate after urging President William Ruto to seek his second term on an ODM ticket.

Speaking during a delegates meeting in Elgeyo Marakwet on Sunday, December 14th, 2025, Arati reiterated that ODM is determined to form Government in 2027 and insisted that Ruto, despite currently leading UDA, should return to the party that shaped his early political career.

Arati emphasized that while he has no objection to Ruto pursuing another term, ODM will demand accountability.

“For now we are together with Ruto, but come 2027, we will ask some questions,” he said.

He further argued that ODM was the “big party” that propelled Ruto’s rise, referencing its roots in the 2005 constitutional referendum where Raila Odinga and Ruto campaigned against the draft constitution under the Orange symbol.

The Kisii Governor, known for his vocal defense of ODM, also reminded delegates that he had previously extended an olive branch to Ruto after Raila Odinga’s death, suggesting that if the President rejoined ODM, he will automatically become its flag bearer in 2027.

Arati’s remarks underscore ODM’s push to remain united and preserve Raila’s legacy, while positioning itself as a dominant force ahead of the next election cycle.
