CHARLENE RUTO shares last conversation with RAILA ODINGA in emotional tribute - “You held my hand”

Thursday, October 16, 2025 - President William Ruto’s daughter, Charlene Ruto, has shared a heartfelt tribute to the late Raila Odinga.

Charlene recalled walking hand-in-hand with the former Prime Minister during the recent Devolution Conference where they exchanged warm words.

“You held my hand… I vividly remember you saying, ‘This is good exercise,’” she said, noting that it was a moment she hoped would lead to future conversations.

She described how Odinga attentively listened as she spoke about her vision for youth empowerment and her passion for beekeeping.

His encouragement, she said, gave her a powerful boost.

“You told me to keep it up, and it gave me an even further boost,” she added.

Though she had often seen Odinga on television and at political rallies alongside her father, Charlene said meeting him personally was a special moment.

She described him as humble, wise, and kind.

“I assumed that many more times we would meet again… you would share with me the history of our beautiful motherland, your experience in leadership, and I would share my thoughts and ideas for the young people,” she said.

Expressing sorrow that those future exchanges will never happen, Charlene concluded, “But alas, it was not to be. All I can do now is leave you in the hands of The Almighty Father.”

Her tribute joins a growing chorus of emotional messages from leaders and citizens across the world mourning Odinga’s passing.
