Tuesday, September 2, 2025 - Passengers aboard a Nairobi-bound bus from Western Kenya were treated to unexpected drama after a chicken managed to escape and bolt into nearby bushes.

The incident, which occurred mid-journey, forced a brief stopover as amused travelers jumped out of the bus to help the owner chase down the runaway bird.

Eyewitnesses say the chicken “took off like it had been rehearsing for the Olympics,” leaving its pursuers struggling to keep up.

A video of the comical chase has since gone viral on social media, with many Kenyans poking fun at the lengths Luhyas will go to recover a chicken, one of their most beloved meals.

Others joked that the bird was simply trying to avoid becoming part of someone’s dinner in Nairobi.

The runaway chicken was eventually caught and returned to its relieved owner, though not without laughter, endless jokes, and witty remarks from fellow passengers.
