Tuesday, August 26, 2025 - Governor Gladys Wanga has found herself on the receiving end after a video surfaced showing the sorry state of a dilapidated mabati school in Homa Bay, even as her administration recently unveiled a state-of-the-art amphitheater worth millions of shillings.
In the viral clip, frustrated residents lament that their
children continue to learn under leaking iron sheets and dusty floors, while
county funds are channeled into flashy projects that “add no value to ordinary
wananchi.”
The amphitheater, launched with pomp and glamour, was billed
as a symbol of progress.
However, critics say it exposes the Governor’s misplaced
priorities, with calls mounting for her to prioritize education, healthcare,
and other basic needs.
The video has since sparked heated debate online, with
netizens questioning whether leaders are more concerned with prestige projects
than uplifting the lives of the people.
