Monday, July 14, 2025 - People’s Liberation Party (PLP) leader, Martha Karua, has hit back at lawyer Miguna Miguna for linking her to the 2007 Post-Election Violence.
Speaking during an interview on Citizen TV on Sunday, July
13th, Miguna claimed Karua is unfit to lead the country, accusing
her of abusing power during her tenure as Justice Minister and alleging her
involvement in the 2007 chaos.
“Martha Karua cannot be a choice; she was involved in the
atrocities of 2007 and does not represent anything,” Miguna claimed.
In a swift response via her official X account, Karua
dismissed the accusations as false and malicious, accusing Miguna of rewriting
history.
“Miguna was a key player in the ODM Party in 2007 and knows
the violence was preplanned and executed by ODM supporters,” she wrote.
Karua defended her actions at the time, stating that she
consistently called for peace and urged aggrieved parties to seek redress in
court rather than resorting to violence.
She further refuted Miguna’s claims that she abused power in
a personal matter involving former judge GBM Kariuki, clarifying that the
allegations stemmed from a court case she had no involvement in.
“Hate blinds Miguna… he neglects to refer to court
proceedings that contain no evidence to support his allegations,” she said.
Karua also demanded equal airtime from Citizen TV to respond
to the claims aired.
“Ayub Abdikadir and Citizen TV Kenya are too liberal in
airing malicious falsehoods. I demand equal airtime for rebuttal,” she wrote.
Karua, a former Azimio running mate, has already declared
her interest in the 2027 presidential race.
