Thursday, July 31, 2025 - The Ministry of Education has announced a significant reduction in tuition fees across all academic programmes in public universities, effective September 1st, 2025.
In a notice issued to all Vice Chancellors on Wednesday,
July 30th, Higher Education Principal Secretary, Beatrice Inyangala,
stated that the move follows extensive consultations with students, parents,
and higher education stakeholders.
“Following extensive consultations, the Government of Kenya
is pleased to announce a landmark rationalization of public university fees
under the Student-Centred Funding Model,” the statement read.

admissions and finance portals to reflect the revised fees for both first-year
and continuing students.
She noted that tuition costs will continue to be supported
through a mix of direct fees, scholarships, and loans tailored to individual
student needs.
In the revised structure, a semester in Medicine
(Pre-Clinical) will cost between Ksh12,960 and Ksh51,840, while Clinical
Medicine programs will range from Ksh22,371 to Ksh75,000.
Other notable changes include Dentistry
(Ksh12,960–Ksh51,840), Veterinary Medicine (Ksh20,546–Ksh75,000), and
