On Monday,
Koome who is the chairperson of the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) said she
is ready to dialogue with the President who has been attacking the Judiciary
over corruption.
Speaking in Vihiga County on Tuesday, Raila observed that such a move was likely to compromise the independence of
the Judiciary.
"Koome says she wants to hold talks with Ruto.
"This is the beginning of dropping the guard.
"There is no need for such talks.
"If Ruto is unhappy with any court ruling, then
he should appeal," Raila said.
The former Premier said
that there is already an active case in court in which the court has made a
ruling and the Executive has appealed.
"The matter is supposed to be decided on January 25, 2024.
"On the other hand, the CJ is talking about having a dialogue with the Executive.
"That is how to compromise justice.
"Let the judges do their thing independently," Raila stated.
