“I Am Not Wife Material” - Content creator TROPHY KIPRONO explains why she has no plans to get married and questions benefits of marriage for women.

Friday, November 06, 2026 – Kenyan digital content creator and communications trainer Trophy Kiprono has sparked conversation after revealing why she has no intention of walking down the aisle, openly admitting that she does not consider herself wife material.

Speaking on a podcast interview, Trophy questioned traditional African expectations placed on married women, arguing that the institution of marriage often demands a level of submission, patience, and tolerance that she does not identify with.

She described herself as an outspoken woman who is not afraid to question things and has little tolerance for situations she finds unacceptable.

“I do not want to get married because personally I am not a wife material,” she declared.

When pressed to shed light on what she considers ‘wife material,’ she stated,

 “According to the African culture, a wife material is someone who submits, someone who does not question anything; a wife material is someone who is okay with somethings,”

She also challenged the widely held belief that marriage should be an ultimate goal for every woman, questioning what women actually stand to gain from the institution.

“How does marriage benefit women?” she posed.

Her bold remarks come amid a growing trend of women choosing to give marriage a wide berth despite societal pressure to conform to traditional expectations and gender roles.
