Wednesday, November 4, 2026 - The postmortem examination on the body of 86-year-old Dorita Macharia, mother of actress and former KTN host Regina Re, has revealed that she died from excessive bleeding following multiple stab wounds.

Pathologists found several cuts on her face, neck and arms, pointing to a violent attack.

The findings come a day after Regina Re, her daughter Thandie Malaika, her brother Jimmy Macharia and Immanuel Munyeki were remanded for 10 days as detectives investigate Dorita’s death.

The elderly woman was found dead at her home in Loresho Ridge Estate on the night of October 30 following an alleged altercation with her granddaughter, Thandie Malaika.

The confrontation reportedly occurred after Dorita found her granddaughter and her boyfriend in a compromising situation inside the house.

DCI detectives from Gigiri, three pathologists and lawyers representing the deceased and the accused converged at Lee Funeral Home for the postmortem examination.

Government pathologist Dr Bernard Midia told the media that Dorita had been stabbed more than 20 times.

"The injuries consisted of multiple stab wounds to the neck with injury to the blood vessels which led to severe external bleeding and two stab wounds in the neck,” Dr Midia said.

The examination also revealed additional sharp-force injuries on various parts of the body, mainly around the face and neck. The pathologist further noted a fracture on the left upper arm.

Dr Midia said the wounds suggested that the weapon used was a very sharp object, although it was not immediately established whether it was a knife.

"I have seen a sharp force, so it was most likely a blade; it could have been a knife, but it was a sharp, sharp, sharp object,” he noted.

Thandie Malaika is being treated as a prime suspect in the murder and remains in police custody as investigations continue.
