- Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja has suspended County Chief Officer for Urban
Planning, Patrick Analo, following his arrest and the recovery of Ksh65 million
in cash from his Syokimau residence by Ethics and Anti‑Corruption Commission
(EACC) detectives.
In a statement issued Friday, June 5th, Sakaja
confirmed that Analo will not be allowed to access his office, official
documents or county systems during the suspension.
Dominic Mutegi, the Director of Development Management, has
been appointed to act in the role with immediate effect.
Sakaja acknowledged the gravity of the allegations, noting
that his administration will fully cooperate with EACC investigators.
“We wish to state that this is a legal process being undertaken by
independent constitutional and investigative institutions.”
“The County Government respects the rule of law and will fully
cooperate with the EACC and all relevant agencies to facilitate the
investigations,” the statement read.
Sakaja emphasized his commitment to integrity and
accountability in city governance.
“Every public officer is individually accountable for their actions
and must be prepared to answer to the law where allegations of wrongdoing
arise.”
“All officers are reminded of this individual culpability as well
as their professional responsibilities to their respective professional
bodies,” he added.
However, Sakaja underscored the constitutional principle of
presumption of innocence until proven guilty, urging the public to allow
investigative and judicial processes to proceed without interference or
speculation.
EACC confirmed that Analo is under investigation for
conflict of interest, abuse of office, bribery and possession of unexplained
assets.
