Wednesday, June 03, 2026 - A man wearing Akorino attire allegedly posed as a potential buyer for a phone that had been listed for sale on a popular online marketplace for Ksh 75,000.
He arranged to meet the seller at a hotel along Thika Road
to inspect the device.
However, during the meeting, he reportedly distracted and
confused the owner before making off with the phone.
Fortunately, CCTV cameras captured clear images of the
suspect, which could aid in efforts to trace him.
The incident serves as a reminder for people buying and selling items online to exercise caution when dealing with strangers, as such scams and theft cases appear to be on the rise.
