- The Kenyan rugby community is reeling from the tragic loss of former Kenya
Lionesses head coach and Nakuru RFC stalwart, Felix ‘Ade’ Oloo.
According to reports, Oloo died in the United States after he was hit by
a vehicle while trying to cross an interstate in Bothell, Washington, early
Monday morning, May 4th, 2026.
Investigations into the circumstances of the accident are
ongoing.
Confirmation of his passing was delivered by Nakuru Rugby
Football Club and Kenya Rugby, both expressing profound grief.
In a statement issued Tuesday, May 5th, Nakuru
RFC described the incident as a devastating tragedy.
“It is with deep sorrow that the Nakuru Rugby fraternity announces
the sudden passing of Felix Ade Oloo on 4th May 2026 following a tragic road
accident,” the club said.
Fondly known as “Ade” or “Mwalimu,” Oloo was celebrated as a
mentor, leader and servant of the game.
“Rest easy, Coach. Your legacy lives on in every player and every
life you touched,” Nakuru RFC added, promising to share funeral and
memorial details in due course.
Oloo’s rugby journey spanned over 15 years as a Nakuru RFC
player before rising to national prominence as head coach of the Kenya
Lionesses.
Under his leadership, the Lionesses qualified for the Tokyo Olympics and competed in major tournaments including the Africa Women’s competitions, Dubai 7s Invitational, and Elgon Cup.
