Protests erupt in Thogoto after the murder of VICTOR “GUSTAVO” KARANI, Son of a Presbyterian University staff member (PHOTOs)



Thursday, March 12, 2026 - Tension has gripped Thogoto in Kikuyu, Kiambu County, after the body of Victor Karani, popularly known as Gustavo, was discovered near the newly built Kikuyu Level Four Hospital over the weekend in what is believed to be a cold-blooded murder.

Preliminary reports indicate that a few students from the nearby Presbyterian University of East Africa (PUEA) have been linked to the young man’s untimely death.

Gustavo is the son of Ms. Pamela Alekana, a staff member at the university.

The shocking incident has sparked outrage among local residents and youths.

On Thursday, members of the public staged protests in Thogoto, demanding justice for Gustavo and calling for swift action against those responsible for his death.

Demonstrators marched through the area while chanting slogans and urging authorities to ensure a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the killing.

Meanwhile, the Presbyterian University of East Africa has released a statement saying it will fully cooperate with authorities as investigations into the unfortunate incident continue.
