2026 - Mumias East Member of Parliament, Peter Salasya, has raised an alarm
over what he describes as covert political maneuvers within the Orange
Democratic Movement (ODM), warning Kenyans to remain vigilant as the 2027
elections draw closer.
In a statement posted on his social media accounts on
Monday, February 9th, 2026, Salasya accused Siaya Governor James
Orengo, Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, and Embakasi East MP, Babu Owino, of
advancing a hidden agenda under the banner of the “Linda Mwananchi” faction.
According to Salasya, the trio are deliberately targeting
undecided voters and citizens yearning for change, only to eventually redirect
them towards President William Ruto’s camp.
“Hii net ya Sifuna, Babu na Orengo ni ya kunasa the very undecided
and so many Kenyans who want change na wenye hawataki kunaswa na Ruto.”
“Wametumwa na number one kukuchanganya - eventually watakupeleka
kwake. Watch out, my good people,” Salasya wrote.
The vocal MP has consistently criticized the current
administration, positioning himself as an independent voice outside the
dominant political formations.
On February 3rd, he dismissed both one‑term and
two‑term narratives as distractions, arguing that they fail to address Kenya’s
pressing challenges.
“Hunger has no term limit. Unemployment has no term limit. Pain has
no term limit.”
“Kenya does not need noise; Kenya needs solutions,” he
stated.
Salasya emphasized that he does not subscribe to slogans or
cycles of political survival, insisting that Kenya’s future must be tribeless
and issue‑based.
He urged young people to demand justice, opportunity and
development rather than ethnic arithmetic or recycled elites.
“The future will not be given. It must be taken lawfully, boldly,
and responsibly,” he concluded
