DP KINDIKI goes after MATIANG’I for blaming RUTO’s Government for the mess in the education sector - ‘Men at Work, Don’t Disturb Us’

Wednesday, February 04, 2026 - Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has launched a scathing attack against former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i, accusing him of hypocrisy and misplaced criticism of the Kenya Kwanza administration.

Speaking during the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) aspirants’ forum at State House, Nairobi, on January 4th, Kindiki dismissed Matiang’i’s remarks on Government programmes, particularly in the education sector.

He argued that President William Ruto’s administration is working to repair what he termed as “a mess” left behind by the previous regime.

“I want to tell those talking about education, I want to repeat the point the party leader said recently: we are trying to sort out the mess you created in the education section.”

“We shall put up a billboard saying… ‘Men at work. Don’t disturb us’ we are fixing the problems that you left in the education sector,” Kindiki declared.

The Deputy President claimed that challenges with the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC), teacher shortages, and inadequate classrooms originated during Matiang’i’s tenure as Education CS.

He questioned Matiang’i’s legacy, suggesting that the only notable record was the controversial sale of Ruaraka land.

Kindiki further warned that the Government will expose Matiang’i if he continued to criticise Kenya Kwanza programmes.

“The only track record when they were in office is selling land belonging to a school at Ruaraka.”

“We know who sold the land; they should leave us alone. We shall shame them,” he declared.
