ALADWA responds to MOSES KURIA’s 2027 Nairobi bid and rejects running mate offer - "I won’t be anyone’s deputy"

Wednesday, December 03, 2025 - Makadara Member of Parliament, George Aladwa, has dismissed former Public Service Cabinet Secretary, Moses Kuria’s announcement naming him as his running mate in the 2027 Nairobi gubernatorial race.

Aladwa insists that he will not serve as anyone’s deputy in the next election and confirmed that he will contest the Nairobi governorship under the ODM party ticket.

“I saw Moses Kuria saying that I will be his deputy. I won’t be anyone’s deputy.”

“I have been the Mayor of Nairobi, and now I am running for Nairobi Governor,” Aladwa declared.

His remarks came after Kuria shared a campaign poster on November 30th featuring both leaders, presenting Aladwa as his running mate.

In the post, Kuria argued that their joint bid was motivated by concern for Nairobi residents and confidence in their combined leadership experience.

“Not because of our tribes. Not because of our parties. Because we care for Nairobi. Because we understand what Nairobians are going through,” Kuria wrote, adding that their networks and managerial expertise could transform the capital.

Kuria had earlier, on October 12th, formally declared his Nairobi gubernatorial bid, pledging to make the city a model of cleanliness and efficiency.

“I have heard your cry. That is why I will offer myself to be the Governor of the great County of Nairobi in 2027.”

“I will fix Nairobi,” he said in an update on X.
