2025 - The Jubilee Party has formally endorsed former Interior Cabinet
Secretary, Dr. Fred Matiang’i, as its presidential candidate for the 2027
General Elections.
The announcement was made during the party’s National
Executive Committee (NEC) meeting, signaling Jubilee’s renewed ambition to
reclaim its influence on Kenya’s political stage.
Jubilee Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni confirmed that
Matiang’i’s application to run under the party’s banner was unanimously
approved.
“We have received and formally accepted Dr. Fred Matiang’i’s
application for his presidential bid, and the NEC has agreed that he carries
our flag,” Kioni stated.
In addition to the endorsement, Matiang’i was appointed
Deputy Party Leader, placing him at the center of Jubilee’s leadership and
opposition strategy.
“He will represent Jubilee in the united opposition,” Kioni
added.
The NEC meeting also addressed internal restructuring, with
plans to revamp grassroots operations, open new branches and re-engage members.
“We now move out to revamp our party,” Kioni said.
Leadership changes were also announced with Nakuru Town West
MP, Samuel Arama, named Whip of the National Assembly, while Senator James
Lomenen was appointed Senate Whip.
Kioni further hinted at a possible review of Jubilee’s
relationship with the Azimio la Umoja Coalition, warning that withdrawal could
carry legal implications for some MPs.
