Monday, October 13, 2025 - Panic gripped State House, Nairobi, after an elite General Service Unit (GSU) officer was attacked and killed in a shocking daylight incident near Gate D, just as President William Ruto was preparing to leave for an official function in Konza City, Machakos County.
According to police reports, the officer, attached to the
GSU’s G Company, was on duty at around 11:00 a.m. when a man armed with a spear
suddenly attacked him, striking him in the chest.
The weapon pierced the officer’s left side, leaving him
fatally wounded.
Colleagues rushed to his aid and quickly transported him to
Kenyatta National Hospital, but he was pronounced dead on arrival due to
excessive bleeding.
The 56-year-old assailant was immediately subdued and
arrested at the scene.
Witnesses say he approached the area posing as a member of
the street families, carrying a sack that concealed the weapon.
He reportedly hid behind a flower bed before launching the
deadly attack.
When questioned, the suspect told police that he had been
“sent by Satan” to carry out the killing, a claim now under investigation by
detectives.
The attack triggered a security scare within the State House
compound, prompting officers to raise an alarm and tighten access protocols
around the perimeter.
Senior officers, including Kilimani OCPD, Patricia Yegon,
and DCI boss, Hussein Mahat, visited the scene and later joined State House
officials at the hospital.
Authorities say the motive behind the shocking attack
remains unclear, but confirm the suspect is in custody for interrogation.
Security around the President’s residence has since been
significantly heightened as investigations continue.
