Monday, October 13, 2025 - CNN International Correspondent Larry Madowo has questioned the accountability of Kibra MP, Peter Orero, following the arraignment of his driver, George Oduor, who was fined Ksh 100,000 for dangerous driving and obstruction.
The incident, which went viral over the weekend, showed
Orero’s vehicle being driven on the wrong side of the road, leading to a heated
exchange with Madowo.
In a statement on Monday, Madowo wrote, “The Kibra MP’s
driver, George Oduor, was fined Ksh100,000 after pleading guilty to obstruction
and dangerous overtaking.”
“Did he do that without permission from his boss, Peter
Orero, who was next to him?”
Oduor appeared before the Milimani Law Courts and admitted
to the offence, explaining he was rushing to the airport.
“Despite his apology, the court imposed a fine or 12 months
in prison, with 14 days to appeal.”
The clash gained attention after Madowo filmed the incident,
during which both Orero and his driver were heard sarcastically telling Madowo
to record and send the video to President Ruto.
The footage sparked public outrage, with many Kenyans
condemning Orero’s conduct as arrogant and unbecoming of a public servant.
Madowo’s remarks have reignited debate on impunity among leaders, with calls for equal accountability regardless of status.
