Thursday, October 30, 2025 - The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has released a statement expressing deep sorrow following the tragic death of Engineer Juma Guya, a renowned contractor from Rajope Construction, who took his own life at the Lake Basin Mall in Kisumu on Wednesday.
In the statement, KRA conveyed its heartfelt condolences to the family of the late engineer, describing the incident as deeply regrettable.
The Authority has pledged full cooperation with law enforcement agencies as investigations into the matter continue.
Engineer Juma Guya, a respected figure in the construction industry, reportedly drove his luxurious Toyota Land Cruiser V8 to the Lake Basin Mall, left the keys with the gatekeeper, and instructed that his son would collect the vehicle, before tragically jumping from the second floor.
Sources indicate that he had been struggling with a huge tax debt owed to KRA, which may have contributed to his distress.
