Thursday, September 4, 2025 - Marya Prude, the former wife of media personality Willis Raburu, has opened up about their messy divorce.
In a candid interview on The
Wind Down, Marya opened up about the emotional toll of her highly
publicized divorce and the healing journey that followed.
“When we got separated, I moved in with my folks. I felt
like my whole world was crashing,” she shared.
Her father personally came to collect her from her
matrimonial home, a moment she described as “very dramatic.”
The fitness enthusiast revealed that the divorce drained her
emotionally and financially.
She stayed with her parents for over a year and a half,
unable to afford her own place as the legal process dragged on.
Interestingly, she disclosed that the formal divorce papers
were delivered via WhatsApp.
“I knew it was coming… I respected the decision and told my
ex that communication would now go through my lawyer,” she said.
Looking back, Marya regrets marrying at just 23, admitting that
she was driven by societal expectations.
“I don’t know what I was thinking! I would be so far right
now if I wasn’t busy serving society and other people’s expectations,” she
confessed, adding that she now sees marriage as “overrated.”
Marya and Raburu tied the knot in 2017, but their union
faced tragedy with the loss of their daughter in 2019.
They separated in 2020, with Raburu later admitting he
initiated the divorce.
While Mary has since kept her love life under wraps, Raburu
has moved on with Ivy Namu and they are blessed with two children.
