Thursday, September 4, 2025 - Grief and disbelief engulfed Mwea, Kirinyaga County, after a man set his house on fire, killing his wife and two children following a bitter marital dispute.
According to police reports, the suspect locked the family
inside their home before dousing it with petrol and setting it ablaze.
Neighbors who rushed to the scene were unable to rescue the
victims as the fire spread rapidly, reducing the house to ashes.
The man himself sustained severe burns and was rushed to
hospital, where he later succumbed while receiving treatment in the ICU.
Shocked residents described the incident as one of the most
horrifying family tragedies in recent memory.
Local leaders and clergy condemned the act, urging couples
to seek counseling and mediation rather than resorting to violence.
