Monday, September 8, 2025 - A truck transporting bales of clothes overturned in Mai Mahiu, sending locals into a frenzy as they scrambled to loot the goods.
In a viral video shared online, the locals can be seen
rushing to the scene and grabbing whatever they could lay their hands on.
Some carried entire bundles on their backs while others
fought over single pieces of clothing in broad daylight.
Instead of helping the driver and securing the accident
scene, the crowd turned it into a free-for-all market, with no regard for the
owner of the goods.
The incident has sparked mixed reactions online, with some
Kenyans condemning the behavior as shameful and criminal, while others
joked that “poverty in Kenya is real".

This is quite bad, preposterous. These are the same Kenyans pointing fingers to our politicos that they are thieves, yet they do the same instead of securing the property for the owner of the clothes. We should style up and change hii tabia mbaya as civilized people.
