ODM MP warns BABU OWINO against ditching RAILA ODINGA for GACHAGUA’s camp ahead of 2027 elections - “Shortest political walk to oblivion”

Thursday, September 4, 2025 - Homa Bay Town MP, Peter Kaluma, has issued a stern warning to Embakasi East legislator, Babu Owino, over his possible exit from the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) to join former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s Democracy or Citizens’ Party (DCP).

Speaking on Thursday morning, Kaluma cautioned that such a move would severely weaken Owino’s political standing, especially in Nairobi County.

He described Gachagua’s camp as a “toxic opposition movement” that could tarnish Owino’s reputation and derail his ambitions for the Nairobi gubernatorial seat in 2027.

“Leaving Baba for Gachagua and his hateful group will be your shortest political walk to oblivion.”

“Retrace your steps back to Raila Odinga and ODM,” Kaluma urged.

His remarks followed Owino’s recent interview on Kameme FM, where the Embakasi East MP expressed frustration over being sidelined within ODM.

Owino admitted that he had come to terms with not receiving Raila Odinga’s endorsement for the Nairobi Governor race, citing Sakaja’s public backing by the party leader.

“I cannot be given the ODM party ticket… but I will respect Raila as my father,” Owino said.
