4, 2025 - A recent photo of 65-year-old ICT Cabinet Secretary William
Kabogo and 82-year-old Siaya Senator Oburu Odinga has stirred up quite the
storm online, with Kenyans weighing in on everything from leadership to
generational relevance.
The viral image has reignited conversations about age and
representation in Government.
Many netizens questioned whether the two senior citizens are
best suited to steer Kenya’s digital transformation, especially in a country
where the majority of citizens are under 35.
“How do we expect tech progress when our leaders still think
Bluetooth is a dental condition?” one user quipped
But in true Kenyan fashion, the serious concerns were soon
laced with humor.
Some cheekily dubbed Oburu the “ODM Youth Leader,” while
others joked that he’s a “total orphan” and deserves some grace.
The photo has become a symbol of the generational disconnect many young Kenyans feel when it comes to leadership.
