Friday, September 12, 2025 - Lang’ata MP Phelix Odiwuor, better known as Jalang’o has stirred up buzz across Kenya’s media circles with a bold claim about returning to radio.
Appearing on the Tubonge podcast with journalist
Chris The Bass, the former radio star confidently claimed that if he returned
to the airwaves, “many presenters would lose their jobs.”
“Even now, if I go and take a microphone, people would lose
jobs - many of them,” he said, adding that radio is more than just talking.
“It’s an art. It’s passion. It’s what you feel.”
Jalang’o’s transition from media to politics wasn’t without
sacrifice.
He left a lucrative position at Kiss 100 FM to pursue public
service, revealing that his contract had a clause allowing him to return if he
lost the election.
“It wasn’t easy leaving a well-paying job for politics I
wasn’t sure about,” he admitted.
Jalang’o also offered valuable advice to creatives and
entrepreneurs about personal branding.
His mantra? Create. Build. Earn trust.
He urged individuals to treat themselves like a product that
must be carefully crafted and consistently nurtured.
He also emphasized the importance of maintaining
relationships.
“Don’t burn bridges,” he warned, noting that many of his
current constituency projects are collaborations with people from his media
days.
