2025 - Former ICT Cabinet Minister Samuel Poghisio has cast doubt on
President William Ruto’s commitment to fighting corruption.
Speaking at a public forum on Monday, September 1st,
2025, Poghisio singled out Interior CS Kipchumba Murkomen, Health CS Aden
Duale, and Roads and Transport CS Davis Chirchir, accusing them of questionable
wealth accumulation.
“President Ruto, are you willing to remove the log in your
own eye - that is, Murkomen, Duale, and Chirchir?”
“Stop condemning a speck elsewhere and look at the log
closest to you,” Poghisio said.
“They are corrupt, and we all know how they acquired their
wealth.”
The former Minister challenged the President to demonstrate
genuine commitment by ensuring no Cabinet member is shielded from
accountability.
He argued that the persistence of graft at the top has
eroded public trust and undermined the Government’s reform agenda.
“The President must lead by example. If he does not act
against those in his inner circle, Kenyans will doubt whether the
anti-corruption fight is sincere,” he noted.
Poghisio also urged Parliament and oversight agencies not to
remain silent, warning that selective justice will only deepen public
frustration.
Turning to Parliament’s rejection of the Government’s new
e-procurement system, Poghisio claimed corruption and vested interests were
behind the resistance.
“The system threatens those who thrive on loopholes in
manual procurement, and that is why it is being opposed,” he said.
