Monday, September 15, 2025 - A routine police roadblock in Matungu, Kakamega County, turned into a dramatic chase last night after the driver of a private vehicle defied orders to stop.
According to police reports, the driver accelerated through
the barricade and sped over spikes that had been set up, forcing officers from Matungu Police Station
to initiate a high-speed pursuit towards the Mayoni area.
Upon intercepting and searching the vehicle, officers
discovered a consignment of cannabis
sativa weighing approximately 100 kilograms.
The drugs were seized and are now secured as exhibits at
Matungu Police Station.
Two suspects were in the vehicle during the chase.
One was apprehended at the scene and is currently in
custody, while the other escaped and remains at large.
A manhunt has since been launched.
The National Police Service has commended the officers for their swift action, reaffirming its commitment to safeguarding the public and cracking down on illegal narcotics.
