Monday, September 15, 2025 - Former Gatue Senior Chief Nyaga Kaungu has found himself on the wrong side of the law after he was arrested with over 800 litres of illicit brew.
The ex-administrator, who is also eyeing the Gatunga MCA seat, was
once feared for his tough stance on law enforcement, especially against chang’aa
and busaa brewers.
Ironically, the same man who cracked down hard on the trade
during his reign is now accused of being part of it.
Kaungu was dramatically arrested and escorted to Kamang’uru Police Station,
where he is being held as police process his case for arraignment in court.
The arrest has shocked locals, many of whom remember him as a no-nonsense chief who dealt ruthlessly with illicit brewers in the area.
