Tuesday, September 16, 2025 - A Nairobi matatu driver
has earned praise from Kenyans online after refusing to give way to a senior Government
official’s luxury vehicle that was being driven on the wrong side of the road.
In the viral video, the Government vehicle, is seen
attempting to bypass traffic by overlapping, but the matatu driver stands his
ground, forcing the official’s convoy to wait like everyone else.
The standoff drew cheers from passengers, many of whom
hailed the driver as a symbol of defiance against impunity on Kenyan roads.
The incident comes amid growing frustration among motorists
over Government officials who routinely flout traffic rules with little regard
for ordinary citizens.
