Tuesday, August 5, 2025 - Former President Uhuru Kenyatta on Tuesday, August 5th, chaired a Jubilee Party National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting at the party’s headquarters in Nairobi.
According to a statement released after the session, this
was the first NEC meeting held since the conclusion of prolonged legal battles
that had destabilized Jubilee’s leadership.
The Milimani High Court had, on June 12th, upheld
the resolutions from the party’s May 2023 National Delegates Convention (NDC),
officially reinstating Uhuru as party leader.
“The court also affirmed the appointments of Jeremiah Kioni
as Secretary General and Saitoti Torome as National Chairperson. The Registrar
of Political Parties formalized the changes through a special gazette notice on
June 30th, 2025.”
During the NEC meeting, party leaders deliberated on
revitalizing Jubilee's structures, reviewing ongoing programs, and reaffirming
the party’s central role in Kenya’s political arena.
“The leadership reaffirmed its commitment to restoring
Jubilee Party’s role in national political discourse and serving its members
with renewed dedication,” read part of the party’s statement.
Trade Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria welcomed Uhuru’s return,
saying, “At a time when emotions and divisions threaten to escalate, the
Jubilee Party under your stewardship has a major role to play in keeping Kenya
safe.”
“The future is luminous.”
