EACC reveals the top ten Counties where Kenyans paid the highest bribes in 2024



Tuesday, August 5, 2025 - The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has revealed that residents of Uasin Gishu County paid the highest average bribes in the country in 2024, with an average of Ksh 25,873.

According to the newly released survey, Baringo County followed closely with an average bribe of Ksh 16,156.

Other counties in the top ten include Embu (Ksh 12,878), Homa Bay (Ksh 12,381), Bomet (Ksh 11,650), Kakamega (Ksh 10,013), Tana River (Ksh 9,582), Kiambu (Ksh 7,982), Nyamira (Ksh 7,748), and Wajir (Ksh 7,275).

In stark contrast, the counties with the lowest reported bribe payments were Isiolo (Ksh 323), Marsabit (Ksh 700), and Turkana (Ksh 895).

Mid-range Counties included Nairobi (Ksh 4,718), Narok (Ksh 4,010), Tharaka Nithi (Ksh 3,722), Nyeri (Ksh 3,678), and Siaya (Ksh 3,454).

The EACC noted that the findings highlight significant disparities in bribery practices across the country, with some counties recording average bribe amounts nearly 80 times higher than others.

The commission emphasized the need for targeted anti-corruption efforts, especially in regions where the problem appears most severe.
