Monday, June 23, 2025 - Githunguri MP, Gathoni Wamuchomba, a staunch ally of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, has publicly accused the former Githunguri MP, Gabriel Kago, of organizing goons to attack her.
In a
strongly worded statement posted on her official X account, Wamuchomba alleged
that Kago personally led a group of
hired goons who heckled her and attempted to stone her vehicle as she addressed residents.
She
further claimed that the youths were chanting war songs in a coordinated effort to intimidate her and her
supporters.
The MP further warned that the growing trend of political
mobilization through intimidation and hired gangs is reminiscent of the dark
days of Kenya’s political history.
“Just as we witnessed in 2007/08, politicians are slowly
training and funding goons to settle political scores as we watch. This is a
costly mistake for our country,” she warned.
Wamuchomba also alleged that threats from Kago are not new.
According to her, he has made repeated
verbal threats to her staff, and despite filing
police reports, no
action has been taken by the authorities.
Despite the alleged attempts to silence her, Wamuchomba
stood firm, declaring she would not back down or be
intimidated by what she termed as dirty
political tactics.
