Thursday, May 15, 2025 - Former U.S First Lady Michelle Obama is keeping it real about married life with husband and 44th U.S President Barack Obama.
In a candid and humorous conversation on the Good Hang
podcast with Amy Poehler, Michelle, now 61, opened up about the everyday
battles of their relationship.
“Sometimes I get in bed and I’m freezing.”
“Other times, it’s like, ‘Oh my God, take my skin off,’” she
said, highlighting how their nighttime comfort levels rarely align.
Michelle said Barack is “always cold” and she’s constantly
asking if he touched the thermostat.
“Sometimes I wake up hot and I’ll wake him up like, ‘You
touched it, didn’t you?’
“He’s scared of the thermostat now,” she said with a chuckle.
However, their evening routine is refreshingly relatable:
dinner by 6:30 p.m., meaningful catch-ups, and lights out by 8 p.m.
“My head hits the pillow and I’m out. No sleep aid needed -
just the pillow,” she said.
Michelle recently addressed swirling divorce rumors with her
signature grace and humor - and made it clear there’s no trouble in paradise.
Her absence from recent public events, including former
President Jimmy Carter’s funeral and not attending Donald Trump’s second
Presidential inauguration, sparked talk of marital issues.
However, Michelle, married to Barack for 33 years, made it
clear: she’s simply prioritising herself - not avoiding her husband.
“I chose to do what was best for me, not what I had to do,
not what I thought other people wanted me to do,” she said.
