Tuesday, May 20, 2025 – A petty thief is on the run after he was captured on CCTV stealing a phone from a foreign national at a popular city restaurant.
The footage, which has since gone viral on social media, has
left netizens both outraged and amused by the brazen nature of the theft.
In the video, the suspect, a middle-aged man, can be seen
sitting casually next to a mzungu who is enjoying a drink.
Moments after the foreigner heads to the washroom, the man
swiftly reaches for the unattended mobile phone, stashes it in his pocket, and
calmly walks out of the restaurant.
Little did he know that he was being captured on the
restaurant’s CCTV cameras.
The clear footage shows the suspect's face and movements,
and the video has since been shared widely online.
The restaurant has since handed the footage over to local
authorities to aid in the investigation.
