Thursday, May 22, 2025 - A disturbing video has emerged showing a young man, believed to be a member of a notorious criminal gang operating in Nairobi’s Eastlands area, boldly flaunting a firearm - a move that has ignited public outrage and prompted calls for urgent police intervention.
In the now-viral footage, the suspect, who appears to be in
his early 20s, is seen pulling out a pistol and cocking it.
In a show of bravado, he then hands the weapon to another
young man, instructing him to cock it as he had previously taught him.
The brazen display of a firearm by the suspect in a public
setting has raised serious security concerns, particularly in light of rising
incidents of armed robberies and gang violence in the Eastlands suburbs.
The area has in recent years become a hotbed for criminal
gangs, many of whom use social media to boast about their criminal activities
and intimidate the public.
Members of the public have urged the Directorate of Criminal
Investigations (DCI) to launch an immediate manhunt for the suspect and his
accomplices.
