Tuesday, April 15, 2025 - Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has accused the Government of plotting to eliminate him and endanger his family.
In a letter addressed to Inspector General of Police Douglas
Kanja on Tuesday, Gachagua claimed that his life has been under threat since
his removal from office in October 2024.
He accused IG Kanja of deliberately withdrawing his
security, describing the move as a “well-thought-out scheme and backward
conspiracy” to expose him to criminal elements allegedly operating in
collaboration with the police.
Gachagua alleged that attempts had been made to raid his
residences in Nairobi, Nyeri, and other locations by individuals “well known”
to the police chief, or with his complicity.
He also claimed that National Intelligence Service (NIS)
operatives have been stalking him and his immediate family using unmarked
vehicles.
Calling the surveillance a violation of his right to privacy, the former DP demanded the arrest and prosecution of those involved, immediate reinstatement of his security detail, and the deployment of protection during all public gatherings he attends.
