Tuesday, March 25, 2025 - Kenya continues to grapple with a disturbing rise in femicide cases, with 97 women killed in just three months, according to Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police Eliud Lagat.
The latest tragedy unfolded in Eldama Ravine, where a jilted
man murdered his ex-girlfriend in a deadly love triangle.
According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations
(DCI), police are searching for the suspect, who attacked and killed his
ex-girlfriend, enraged over her decision to move on.
In a statement on X, the DCI revealed that the 32-year-old
woman was brutally killed outside her boyfriend’s house on Monday night.
She was last seen heading there at around 8 p.m, but just an
hour later, at 9 p.m, her lifeless body was discovered with deep head wounds,
soaked in blood.
Saos Area Chief Judith Chebon reported the incident, and
detectives from DCI Koibatek have launched investigations.
Meanwhile, the suspect has gone into hiding, with
authorities hot in pursuit.
This heartbreaking case adds to Kenya’s alarming surge in
gender-based violence, sparking urgent calls for justice and better protection
for women.
As the nation mourns yet another life lost, many are
demanding swift action to curb this tragic epidemic.
