Prominent politicians in Samburu and a senior Government official escape death by a whisker after being accosted by bandits - Bandit attacks are back



Tuesday, March 25, 2025 - Police have confirmed they are investigating an attack on a convoy carrying Samburu Senator Steve Lelegwe, Woman Representative Pauline Lenguris, Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital CEO, Richard Lesiampe, and area MCA Felix Lenamparasio, which happened on Sunday.

The leaders had visited Pura, Ikeek Sapuki, and Kutari areas in Malaso division to console families affected by banditry.

While departing Ikeek Sapuki, suspected bandits opened fire, prompting a gunfight with police and National Police Reservists.

The attackers fled towards Malaso Valley.

Separately, bandits killed a 17-year-old boy in Archers Post and wounded a herder in Marigat while stealing livestock, escaping with over 100 cattle.
