I will not bribe Judges like UHURU – President WILLIAM RUTO declares!

Wednesday, January 10, 2024 - President William Ruto has declared that his administration will not bribe judges and magistrates to get favorable rulings like the previous regimes.

Speaking on Tuesday during the laying of the foundation stone for the Kapsuswa Affordable Housing Project in Uasin Gishu County, the president said that he will ensure that corruption in courts, which is threatening to derail his development agenda, comes to an end.

“The biggest problem in Kenya is unemployment.

"Please, I want to tell you kuweni na utu.

"You have jobs, and your children have jobs.

"The children of the hustler and mama mbogas have no jobs.

"I am their lawyer and I cannot bribe the courts; instead of giving bribes to courts, I will end corruption in courts,” Ruto said, adding that he was being advised to bribe courts for his agendas to push through like his predecessor.

“Some people are saying that because the previous government had a budget to bribe courts, I should go and come up with a budget to bribe the courts,” Ruto said.

“Do you want your money to be used to bribe the courts?

"No budget will be made to bribe anyone in the courts.

"The courts are servants of Kenyans.”

Ruto spoke a week after he accused the Judiciary of being corrupt and sabotaging government programs such as the housing levy and universal health scheme.
