Tuesday, January 16, 2024 - The luxurious Ches Bay resort owned by Sports Cabinet Secretary, Ababu Namwamba, has been polluting the environment by dumping waste into the shores of Lake Victoria.
A concerned Kenyan who lives near the multi-million
resort located in Budalangi reached out to activist Boniface Mwangi via his Sema Ukweli Kenya platform and warned
that the polluted water poses health risks to the area residents.
The residents use the water from the lake for
domestic purposes.
An amateur video taken by the aggrieved resident
shows raw sewage flowing from the resort into the lake.
Plastic waste is also dumped near the lake.
“I'm reaching out to you privately as I am unable to share this information on my public timeline due to concerns for my family's safety.
"Ababu Namwaba and I hail from the same area, and there is a potential risk of attack on our family home.
"I feel compelled to bring attention to a matter of environmental significance regarding Ababu Namwamba's facility, Ches Bay in Budalangi. The facility is dumping its waste directly onto the shores of Lake Victoria in Budalang’i.
"This is in total disregard for
the nearby communities that use the water for domestic purposes,’’ wrote the
concerned Kenyan.
