Thursday, January 11, 2024 - A former pastor at Prophet David Owuor’s church has accused him of deploying the same tactics as rogue Nigerian prophet TB Joshua, who is currently trending after BBC exposed how he exploited his brainwashed followers.
In 2019, the
family of Jane Njagi, a lawyer by profession, accused Prophet Owuor of
brainwashing her and defrauding her of her properties.
She ditched
her thriving career in law and became a full-time worshipper at Owuor’s church.
She also
transferred her multi-million properties, including palatial houses in Westlands, to prophet Owuor, besides handing over her personal bank accounts.
It is now
emerging that Prophet Owuor bribed three youthful MPs, including Embakasi East
MP Babu Owino, with Ksh 5 million to defend him after the scandal erupted.
Babu defended
Owuor and castigated the media for attacking him.
At the time,
Owuor was in the middle of a police probe in a suspected
fraud case involving properties worth billions of shillings.
Police were looking into two properties located in Westlands,
Nairobi approximated to be worth Ksh.1.5 billion, that he was accused of
forcefully taking over from Jane Njagi after brainwashing her.
Jane’s family claimed that Owuor and his Repentance and
Holiness Ministry dispossessed her through an elaborate scheme initiated in
2005.
He later
bribed them and they withdrew the case.
