Friday, November 6, 2026 - The identity of one of the women who died in the collapsed Eastleigh building has been revealed as Dora Nyakitumwa, who had gone shopping for curtains but never made it back home alive.
On October 23, the
34-year-old Dora travelled to Eastleigh to buy curtains for her new house,
unaware that it would be her final trip.
According to information
shared, she was inside the building shopping for curtains when it suddenly
collapsed.
Her family spent 15 agonising
days hoping that she would be found alive.
However, yesterday, her body
was among the six recovered from the rubble.
Her husband, John Simiti, was
reportedly contacted and asked to identify the body of his wife.
The tragedy has also raised
questions about why the building was still operating, with shops on the ground
floor while construction work continued on the upper floors.
Rest well, Dora Nyakitumwa.
